An empty pond – a garden feature – in the grounds of a building belonging to the University of Gothenburg on Överhusargatan. Empty ponds cause me a Pavlovian reaction. No, I don’t start salivating… I think of the author JG Ballard in whose works empty and abandoned swimming pools are a symbol for the decay of civilization (among other things).
