Hellmans Drengar

Hellmans Drengar

[dot_recommends]

Male voice choir Hellmans Drengar (Hellman’s Lads) singing in the Museum of World Culture as part of West Pride on Saturday 31st May. The choir is named for Allan Hellman who in 1950 founded the RFSL, the first national organisation for homosexuals in Sweden (just 6 years after it had been decriminalised and at least a quarter of a century before it was no longer recognised as a mental illness). The choir sings about – and challenges – concepts of manliness and masculinity.
