Empty papier maché Easter eggs for sale outside a sweet shop. The idea is that you buy one of these and then fill it with the loose sweets the shop sells by weight. The chocolate Easter eggs common in Britain are unusual here.
Påskris = Easter twigs. Budding birch twigs decorated with coloured feathers – a sign of the coming Easter in Sweden.
This chained figure in the new city hall, once the old court house is a reminder that the guilty were once hung in chains. Or perhaps it just warns people off a dangerous staircase.
The old district court on Gustaf Adolf’s Square has been refurbished and will now accommodate the city council. The new city hall was opened to the general public on the weekend of 12-13 April when these photos were taken.
