At least, it’s A lion in winter. This lion is standing outside the main administrative building of Gothenburg University. Usually he looks nobel and imposing, but now he’s a bit silly under this cap of snow.
Suddenly I caught sight of this umbrella, tucked away behind a drainpipe on Bellmansgatan. Is it an umbrella cache for a rainy day?
(This photo is especially for Naomi who wonders why Swedes don’t use umbrellas in the snow.)

This wall (in an inner courtyard of a house on Bellmansgatan) shows the effects of subsidence – either that or it was really badly laid.

Kronhus court: the courtyard of Kronhuset (the Crown House), one of Gothenburg’s oldest buildings, is peaceful under snow.
This map of Old Gothenburg can be found on a low pedestal in Gustaf Adolf’s Square – it shows the outline of the original fortified city with roads, canals, walls and bastions.
This sculpture of a woman and child huddled together under a blanket of snow is at the foot of the Wallenberg monument (so this is a pendant to yesterday’s photo). The sculptor – of the whole monument – is Charlotte Gyllenhammar and the monment was set up in 2007.
