Hanging in the sunlight and the slight breeze, a little black dress airs after the party last night and in advance of the party tonight, perhaps.

Above: Slänggungan Liseberg‘s carousel for adults and kids still has its share of riders – here with thunder clouds boiling up behind.

Below: The ferris wheel (Pariserhjulet) – with an ad for local ball-bearing manufacturer SKF – dates from 1967 and doesn’t really seem to have the same power of attraction.

Liseberg rides – a history in a picture. In the background is Balder – Liseberg’s all-wooden rollercoaster that was the major ride of 2003. You can also see, travelling left to right, a train on the Lisebergsbana (1987) and travelling right to left a “log canoe” carriage on the Flume Ride (1973). At the bottom of the picture is a piece of track belonging to the Helix, this year’s attraction.

Liseberg rides – this year’s major attraction is the Helix. You can get close to the rides within the Liseberg funfair at several points, but a bright, sunny day tends to make for deep shadows. Nice cloudscapes though.

The Ensfyr – two tall white pillars that sailors have to line up so they make one (ens) in order to navigate into Arendal harbour at the mouth of Gothenburg’s Göta Älv. Lit by the setting sun.
