The snow started to fall yesterday evening and continued through the night and for most of the daylight hours today. Älv Snabben 5 is one of the ferry boats that run as part of Gothenburg’s public transport system. This photo taken from Älv Snabben 4, just off the Lindholmen ferry stop.
At least, it’s A lion in winter. This lion is standing outside the main administrative building of Gothenburg University. Usually he looks nobel and imposing, but now he’s a bit silly under this cap of snow.

This map of Old Gothenburg can be found on a low pedestal in Gustaf Adolf’s Square – it shows the outline of the original fortified city with roads, canals, walls and bastions.
This sculpture of a woman and child huddled together under a blanket of snow is at the foot of the Wallenberg monument (so this is a pendant to yesterday’s photo). The sculptor – of the whole monument – is Charlotte Gyllenhammar and the monment was set up in 2007.
Raoul Wallenberg, Swedish diplomat in Budapest in the closing stages of World War 2, whose efforts helped save the lives of thousands of Hungarian Jews from the Nazis and their Hungarian allies in Nyilas (the Arrow Cross). I’d intended to post a photo of the Wallenberg monument on Holocaust Day (27 January) but didn’t have a decent photograph then. This was taken yesterday.
