The Chalmers Lindolmen building called Kuggen is a splash of colour in the sun. I’ve previously photographed its saw-toothed profile.

Asia teaching

The five continent statues around the fountain at Järntorget each have different attributes. This is Asia teaching. Her right hand forms (what I suspect is a Western interpretation of) the Vitarka Mudra gesture that means teaching or discussion in Buddhism. The first finger and thumb form the Wheel of Law. Can you see the spider’s thread?

Here’s another picture of Asia from earlier in the year.

The strong morning sun catches a spiral fire escape at an angle and the spiralling shadows create a kind of double helix. Behind Odenplan.

Fly by bus

Fly by bus

This big fly – larger than my thumbnail – was resting by the window of the bus next to my seat. It didn’t seem to mind me pointing a massive camera at it for this macro shot. I’m not used to flies with this banded colouring – in my imagination all flies are black, except the big blue bottles and green bottles Swedes call spyflugor (vomit flies). I know there are other colours, but this one seems to be imitating a wasp and I’ve never noticed that before in a fly so large.

Lindholm angles

The angles of different sorts made by an architect’s dream in steel and plateglass on Lindholmspiren. Not so long ago a wasteland after the collapse of Gothenburg’s shipping industry, now the basin is a marina and the quaysides are overgrown with buildings like this one.

On Ramberget I saw this compact ball of feather down. I wonder if it’s from a nest?
