A sudden downpour over Fredsgatan – some people are prepared, others resigned, one makes a dash.
Summer fun on the river with these colourful canoes. These were part of a group of canoists making their way down the river from Lilla Bommen. Photographed from the Älvsnabben public transport ferry.
This pug was travelling on the ferry down the river to Klippan. For some reason I was reminded of the phrase associated with the late Queen Victoria: “We are not amused”.
A baby’s summer bonnet decorated with bees and flowers, lost and found – left on one of the new granite bollards at Götaplatsen. The City museum of art behind and the concert house to the right.
Do visit (and perhaps “like”) My Gothenburg Days/Dagar i mitt Göteborg on Facebook.
I realised a while back that I didn’t have any good photos of Poseidon, the statue by Carl Milles that symbolises Gothenburg for many Gothenburgers. He has stood in his fountain in Götaplatsen since 1931. At a distance he looks affable and maybe a “go’ gubbe” (a genuine male Gothenburger), close-up he seems watchful and bit suspicious.
Someone has added this face to one of the granite bollards along by the side of the bicycle path between the Art Gallery and Artisten, Gothenburg University’s Academy for Music and Drama. In the background you can see the side wall of Gothenburg City Theatre.
